How to move forward, after a year of being held down and held back

Let’s give a cheer for the New Year. Because 2019 seemed poised to take a sister under.

I mean…if I’m being perfectly honest with myself, the “year” had nothing to do with it. Everything happens in its own time and space, and so the experiences I conjured during the previous 12 months were the manifestation of things growing, building, forming for a good time prior to that.

I read a great post here on Medium about a Japanese practice of being moment hunters, and I’d like to live my life more in that space from here on out. Because not being present and wanting to jump ahead with my goals almost gave me an express ticket to becoming an ancestor, way before my time.

Almost.

Health crises have a way of shaking one out of bad practices and compelling one to deep dive into some powerful gratitude, affirmations and appreciation of merely breathing.

My lungs are commissioned for far more melodic things, anyway.

And so to be, one must do. My extended state of underemployment was a gateway to refresh and renew, professionally and physically. I wanted to get a new full-time job, for all of the standard reasons of income and functionality. But, had it happened quickly, I would have…
